EMG P6 Bass Pickup

Model: EMG-P6

EMG started their production in 1976 and since then has gained a reputation as the most popular manufacturer of active pickups for electric guitars. As a result of this their pickups are standard equipment on many high-end models from manufacturers such as ESP, Schecter and Jackson. EMG active pickups tend to have much higher output than passive pickups of similar design because of the on-board preamp. This has made them popular with hard rock and heavy metal guitarists because they overdrive the input stage of guitar amplifiers more dramatically than lower output passive pick-ups.

EMG has also launched a line of passive pick-ups (EMG HZ) in which they make use of their many years of experience in manufacturing active pick-ups.

EMG pick-ups are used by Tom Morello, David Gilmour, Steve Lukather, Prince, Metallica, Slayer, Zakk Wylde, Dave Kushner, Children of Bodom, Deftones, Judas Priest, Rammstein, Killswitch Engage, Slipknot and many more…

EMG-P6

The Bass pickup of choice since it was developed. The EMG-P, like all the original EMG's, went through a redesign in 1979. The original "Embossed EMG Logo" model made everybody sit up and listen. The pre-79 models are still used by players like Lee Sklar and Alphonso Johnson. More than just a few have gravitated to the EMG-P for stage performance and studio recording. The EMG-P uses short, squat coils that have very little resistance and plenty of inductance. Because the coils are not in series like the passive types, there's about twice as much low end as a passive pickup. Ceramic magnets are used to add clarity. Countless pros use it because they find it has a natural presence, powerful lows, punchy midrange, and superior definition.

The EMG-P features hum-free noiseless operation with an even timbred response. The P design was adapted for Ned Steinberger and became the EMG-SS (Steinberger Sound) used exclusively on the Steinberger Headless Bass. In order to make the composite bass sound more natural, we added steel poles for warmth and midrange. In addition to the standard EMG-P Pickup, the EMG-P5 and EMG-P6 are available for use in five and six string basses respectively.

Package Includes: EMG's exclusive Quik-Connect™ cable, prewired solid shaft volume/tone control set, output jack, battery clip set, adjustment screws.
